Scappoose, a city of about 6,000, is nestled at the foot of forested hills on a plain overlooking the Columbia River just 19 miles outside of Portland. Rich in natural resources, early settlers made their living as loggers, brickmakers, blacksmiths, shingle millers and dairy farmers. In 1921 the community adopted its first charter and became the City of Scappoose.
Scappoose is a charming, country town filled with kind-hearted people. It has an excellent school system, active community calendar and recreational amenities, making it a very desirable place to live. This area offers a wide range of home styles including cottage, craftsman, contemporary, ranch, traditional, custom, condos, townhouses and floating homes. Many of the expansive estates are known for their unparalleled views of the Cascades.
